Shader Extension

How about adding an extention to apply shaders?  Such as writeableBitmap.effect = new BandedSwirlShader()

Shaders can only be applied to controls, since they are part of the Silverlight rendering pipeline. So this would not work.

One would have to implement a custom pixel shader renderer, which is a ton of work and would lead to suboptimal performance than a manually optimized algorithm.
