Performance considerations

Are there any performance considerations when using WriteableBitmaps that one should be aware of?

For example, I seem to be getting excessive allocations (a lot of instances of System.Int32[]) in my app, but I work only with 2-3 WriteableBitmaps and perform mostly simple tasks such as Rotating like this

_originalBitmap = _originalBitmap.Rotate(90);

And the memory jumps for more than 20MB every time.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong there?
